Independent Accounting Services, LLC was established in 2019 with the goal of providing personalized, professional accounting and tax services for small to medium-sized businesses, as well as individuals, at affordable prices.

Maria’s Bio

Born and raised in Mexico, she is proud to say that she is creating a legacy, as the first generation in her family to attain a degree. She attended La Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico (UABC). There, she earned a Bachelor’s degree as a Public Accountant – the U.S. equivalent to a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, with a major in accounting. 

Supporting herself while attending college full-time was not easy. She started her accounting career in Mexico, working 48 hours a week to pay for her education. This experience was an important opportunity in developing her professionalism and she offers nearly 30 years of business accounting background for you and your business.

Growing up, she was no stranger to the challenges that owners face when starting or expanding a business.

Her family owned a small bakery in San Luis, Mexico. From about 10 years old, she watched her father manage the business. She witnessed how he struggled to properly organize finances, which made daily operations more difficult. Desperately wanting to see the family business succeed, she was heartbroken that she did not have the skills to help, thus inspiring her to pursue a career as a business accountant. 

In December of 2021, she retired from corporate accounting and embraced the vision she always had of owning her accounting firm. In 2019, she started Independent Accounting Services in Yuma, AZ.
